Kind Consultancy is working with an award-winning, well-established Alternative Financial Services business which is currently in an ambitious growth phase. As part of their expansion they are now seeking a Risk Business Partner to join them in a full-time, permanent role with a hybrid work model requiring 1 day per week in their London offices and ad-hoc days in their West Sussex office, paying circa £75,000.

Reporting to the Head of Risk Advisory, the Risk Business Partner will act as a Risk advisor to a specified department, collaborating with their leadership team and supporting their decision making, with key responsibilities including:

• Collaborating with the leadership team in the ownership and creation of risk assessments including scenario analysis and in the ownership and creation of risk remediation plans
• Monitoring risk exposure against the defined appetite, identifying variances and providing recommendations for optimisation
• Supporting the Risk team in creating board packs and ad hoc MI to drive business understanding
• Working with the Risk Business Partners for other business areas and the central Risk team to collate an aggregated picture of risk exposures across the wider organisation.
• Ensuring the business area is operating in accordance with the Group Risk Framework
• Working with colleagues to appraise risk assessments for projects impacting the area and providing analysis and recommendations to management
• Tracking key indicators related to risk and controls, identifying potential trigger events, and communicating performance trends
• Leading and conducting regular reviews ensuring alignment and updates in status of key programs, roadmaps, and operations
• Supporting Procurement with risk review of contract renewals
• Acting as a strategic advisor, providing risk insights and recommendations to support their decision-making process
• Collaborating on long-term strategies to align the business area’s risk management activity with overall company goals and good customer outcomes and to support the articulation of these, reducing risk profile where appropriate.
• Providing insights on external trends, benchmarking, and innovation and how these can be leveraged to drive effective risk management
• Monitoring the risk culture within the department

Our ideal candidate for the Risk Business Partner position:

• Has past experience in a first- or second-line risk role
• Demonstrates excellent interpersonal and communication skills and strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Has good IT skills (Microsoft applications and GRC systems)
• Has a track record of successfully challenging and changing businesses
• Is highly organised and able to work with a matrixed team and shared resources to organise the teams’ workload
• Is a motivated self-starter with a positive and proactive attitude to all challenges.
• Is able to interpret plans to identify risks and how they can be best controlled
• Possesses the risk judgement to know when to take a pragmatic approach and when to challenge the business
• Is an agent for positive change
• Displays excellent analytical skills, with ability to think independently and draw conclusions
