Kind Consultancy is working with a well-established specialist bank which is currently seeking a Head of Financial Planning and Analysis to join them in a full-time, permanent role paying up to £100,000 dependent on experience, with a hybrid working model requiring 2 days per week in their Birmingham office.

The Head of Financial Planning and Analysis will lead the bank's financial planning, forecasting, commercial insight, finance business partnering and performance analytics, elevating FP&A capability as the bank grows in scale and complexity. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Owning the annual budget, rolling forecasts, and long term financial plan integrated across Income Statement, balance sheet, regulatory guardrails (capital and liquidity).
  • Driving scenario analysis and supporting stress testing (ICAAP, ILAAP, RRP) in partnership with the Treasury team and regulatory reporting.
  • Building and governing financial models under EUC/model governance frameworks.
  • Implementing automation (e.g., use of existing systems or new forecasting platform) to reduce manual effort, improve accuracy and shorten cycles.
  • Partnering with the Financial Controller on alignment of forecasting to financial reporting, i.e. accounting standards.
  • Leading analysis of pricing, margins, unit economics and product and customer profitability.
  • Owning the Bank’s cost management framework: establish clear cost ownership across all business areas and embed financial accountability with budget owners.
  • Acting as strategic advisor to the business, delivering insight and constructive challenge on capital allocation and strategic decisions.
  • Presenting financial insights at Executive Board level with clarity and confidence translating complexity into outcome focused narrative ready for decisions.
  • Produce financial information to a standard suitable for inclusion in investor and regulator materials. Including development of segmental reporting, adjusted metrics, and historical assessments as required.
  • Providing analytical insight into cost of funds, behavioural lives, RWA optimisation, and hedge impacts.
  • Owning the performance management framework: KPIs, monthly ExCo and Board packs, business line reviews, and strategic reviews.
  • Overseeing financial governance across all change programmes including cost tracking, capex/opex classification, and benefits realisation. Challenge business cases and investment proposals with evidence based commercial reasoning.
  • Building a high performing FP&A team with clear succession, technical excellence, and development pathways.

For the Head of Financial Planning & Analysis opportunity, we're looking for candidates who:

  • Is a fully Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA).
  • Has extensive experience of FP&A leadership in a PRA/FCA regulated banking environment.
  • Demonstrates strong forecasting, financial modelling, and scenario planning expertise.
  • Possesses advanced commercial acumen: pricing, margins, unit economics (product profitability), cost allocation methodology, business case evaluation.
  • Has a proven ability to influence senior leadership, executives and Board members through clear, insight led communication.
  • Has experience of modernising FP&A processes through automation and digital tooling.
  • Has a track record of building and developing finance teams.
  • Is an ambitious and self-starting, comfortable shaping clarity in ambiguous, fast-moving environments.
  • Can constructively challenges assumptions with evidence and commercial logic.
  • Having experience in a business going through periods of strategic change, including capital structure and ownership transitions, would be highly beneficial, as would familiarity with regulatory guardrails (capital and liquidity) and balance sheet instruments
