Kind Consultancy is working with a well-established and respected Retail Financial Services organisation which is currently seeking a Mortgage Underwriter to join them in a full-time, permanent role paying up to £45,000 with a predominantly remote work model, requiring 1 day per-month in their Essex offices, as well as quarterly in-person meetings.

The Mortgage Underwriter will assess mortgage applications and supporting documentation to determine creditworthiness and risk, with other responsibilities including:

• Making informed lending decisions under time constraints in line with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborating with the processing team, business development, other internal key stakeholders and directly with mortgage intermediaries to provide exceptional service to our members.
• Maintaining accurate records of underwriting decisions, with high attention to detail and communicate outcomes effectively.
• Staying updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in underwriting.

Our ideal candidate for the Mortgage Underwriter role:

• Has 2+ years of Mortgage Underwriting experience.
• Must have complex lending experience, including strong knowledge of high net worth, self-employed, Buy to Let, HMO (House in Multiple Occupation), Self Build, Expat mortgages and development finance.
• Demonstrates strong analytical skills with the ability to assess financial information and risk.
• Is an excellent communicator in both writing and speech, with a customer-focused approach and professional telephone manner.
• Is proficient in using underwriting software and Microsoft Office applications.
• Is a confident decision maker with consistently excellent attention to detail.
• Holding CeMAP or a similar Financial Services qualification would be desirable.
