Kind Consultancy is working with a well-established alternative Financial Services business which is currently seeking a Senior Credit Underwriter to join them in a full-time, permanent position with a hybrid work model based in their Birmingham office.

The Senior Credit Underwriter will hold a mandate with a broad remit, underwriting complex proposals for SME & Corporate lending , Real Estate and CDFI, with key responsibilities including:

• Reviewing, assessing and (where appropriate) restructuring credit recommendations for approval or onward recommendation
• Analysing financial statements, management accounts, projections, and covenant performance.
• Reviewing complex group and security structures
• Support the development of colleagues through knowledge sharing acting as a mentor where appropriate.
• Carrying out Quality Assurance on existing lending to ensure key risks are monitored and controlled effectively

Our ideal candidate for the Senior Credit Underwriter opportunity:

• Has proven experience operating within an FCA regulated Bank in a Senior Underwriter, Credit Manager or equivalent credit decisioning role in a Commercial Lending capacity
• Has a proven track record of Credit Underwriting and financial analysis across a broad range of asset classes and lending structures within Commercial or Corporate banking.
• Has demonstrable experience of holding and exercising substantial discretionary lending authorities of £20m and above, including structuring, approving and documenting complex lending propositions.
• Has strong credit judgement skills, with the confidence to make robust, well-reasoned lending decisions, including the ability to decline proposals where risk is not acceptable.
• Can balance commercial objectives with prudent risk management, operating effectively within defined risk appetite and policy frameworks.
• Displays excellent communication skills, with experience producing clear, concise and high-quality credit papers and articulating recommendations
