Kind Consultancy is working with a growing Challenger Bank which is currently seeking a Compliance Monitoring Officer to join them in a full-time, permanent position based in their London office.

Reporting to the Compliance Monitoring Manager, the Compliance Monitoring Officer will support the delivery of the Compliance Monitoring Plan, with key responsibilities including:

  • Undertaking 2nd line compliance monitoring activities as part of the risk-based Compliance Monitoring Plan
  • Acting as a Compliance Monitoring SME, delivering advice and support on Anti-Financial Crime Second Line of Defence monitoring, ensuring that monitoring activities effectively cover AML, CTF, sanctions and fraud risk.
  • Supporting the Compliance Monitoring Manager with the development of compliance monitoring practices and data collection techniques
  • Accurately assess the risk of any issues identified, to enable effective prioritisation of reporting and subsequent actions tracking.
  • Maintaining awareness of broader conduct risk and regulatory expectations relating to TCF and Consumer Duty, providing support and guidance to colleagues
  • Escalating significant issues to the Compliance Monitoring Manager at the earliest opportunity, enabling discussion and relevant action to be taken.
  • Supporting the Compliance Monitoring Manager in tracking the progress of the Compliance Monitoring Plan and providing updates to the Chief Compliance Officer and other Governance forums.

Our ideal candidate for the Compliance Monitoring Officer opportunity:

  • Has experience of completing Compliance Monitoring activity (Thematic, Focus, Continuous or Deep Dive Reviews) under delegated authority, ideally in a bank.
  • Is able to develop data and MI suited to supporting a Compliance Monitoring Plan, ideally utilising technology to best advantage.
  • Has report writing experience.
  • Has strong knowledge of Retail Banking, Payment Services (especially banking-as-a-service business models), Merchant Acquiring and Card Issuing (including payment scheme rules), provision of Safeguarding Accounts, Commercial Lending (including unregulated secured loans via broker distribution), Retail Deposit-Taking (including via deposit aggregators and depositor protection rules) and Consumer Lending.
  • Is able to consider Consumer Duty and Treating Customers Fairly within the broader customer outcomes assessed during reviews.
