Kind Consultancy is working with a well-established Retail Financial Services business in the East Midlands which is currently seeking a Mortgage Underwriter to join them in a permanent role paying circa £30,000, with a hybrid work model requiring 3 in-office days per week. The Mortgage Underwriter will have a 36 hour work week with flexible hours of either 9am - 5pm or 8am - 4pm.

As part of the Mortgage Underwriting Team, the Mortgage Underwriter will deliver exceptional underwriting service to internal and external customers, with key responsibilities including:

• Underwriting and processing mortgage applications within the organisation's policy and risk appetite.
• Communicating effectively with both internal and external customers, maintaining the highest possible standard of customer service.
• Demonstrating a strong understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements.
• Providing training, support and mentoring to junior Underwriting team members.

Our ideal candidate for the Mortgage Underwriter opportunity:

• Has previously held a mortgage mandate for a variety of secured lending types, including residential, buy to let, self-employed and self- build mortgages.
• Is highly organised with the ability to prioritise their own workload.
• Is a confident decision-maker with a problem-solving approach and strong analytical skills.
• Is highly accurate with consistently strong attention-to-detail.
• Is a confident and effective communicator in both writing and speech.
