Kind Consultancy is working with a specialist mortgage firm which is currently seeking an Underwriting Team Manager to join them in a full-time, permanent role paying up to £60,000 with a hybrid work model requiring 2 in-office days per week in their Milton Keynes offices.

The Underwriting Team Manager will lead Underwriting and Mortgage Processing teams, ensuring all loans are assessed and approved in line with the company’s credit risk policy and service standards, with key responsibilities including:

• Leading, managing and developing the Mortgage Processing teams to deliver an excellent customer journey.
• Managing direct reports including 1-2-1’s, goal setting and performance management
• Allocating work and monitoring productivity of the team.
• Act as a Senior Underwriter, approving Buy to Let and Residential loans within mandate and carrying out 2nd case reviews on loans underwritten by the team.
• Ownership of the department's processes, procedures and documents
• Working with the Compliance team to monitor and develop oversight controls to ensure consistent delivery of good outcomes for customers.
• Dealing with and actioning post offer queries from the outsourcing servicing partner.
• Supporting the development, analysis and monitoring of MI reports.
• Supporting third-party relationships to ensure service levels, controls and governance are maintained.
• Representing the department at internal and external stakeholder meetings, cascading any required updates to the team with ownership and completion of any actions.
• Deliver a first-class proactive customer service through inbound and outbound communication to all case stakeholders including introducers, service suppliers, reference providers and applicants
• Ensuring a high level of accuracy of data entry and ongoing record keeping.

Our ideal candidate for the Underwriting Team Manager opportunity:

• Has a background in Underwriting including Buy-to-Let
• Has experience of leading and managing teams, including coaching staff
• Has in-depth and up-to-date knowledge of current rules and regulations related to Mortgage lending in the UK
• Is an excellent communicator in writing and speech, able to influence and collaborate with staff at all levels
• Demonstrates consistently strong attention-to-detail and accuracy
