Kind Consultancy is working with an exciting, fast growing FinTech organisation which is currently seeking an Underwriter to join them in a full time, permanent role based in their London office.

Reporting to the Head of Underwriting, the Unsecured Lending Underwriter will focus on underwriting unsecured lending applications from small business customers, with key responsibilities including:

• Ownership of unsecured lending applications from submission to decision
• Harnessing market knowledge and data (including financial statements, CRA reports, broker proposals, open banking statements and relevant merchant transaction data) to deliver strong outcomes for individual transactions and to inform appetite changes that support growth and risk management
• Advocating for the unsecured lending product with colleagues across the business
• Collaborating with the Head of Underwriting on complex cases, escalating exceptions or exposures beyond mandate with clear, well-reasoned recommendations

Our ideal candidate for the Unsecured Lending Underwriter position:

• Is an experienced Unsecured Lending Underwriter with an in-depth understanding of SME unsecured lending
• Has a track record of fast, accurate underwriting with a range of SME customers
• Is a confident decision maker with the ability to analyse detailed financial information, assess funding requirements and determine serviceability evidence
• Is highly organised with consistently strong attention to detail
• Is familiar with scorecards/decision engines, open-banking data and automation of 'flow' transactions
• Has experience of recommending and delivering product and/or appetite changes to support portfolio growth
