Kind Consultancy is working with a well-established Challenger Bank which is currently seeking a Head of Prudential Risk to join them in a full-time, permanent role based in their West Midlands offices.
The Head of Prudential Risk will lead the second line Prudential Risk function, with key responsibilities including:
- Reviewing and continuously enhancing the Bank's Prudential Risk Framework and supporting policies, standards and risk appetite measures.
- Ensuring prudential risks are appropriately identified, assessed, monitored and reported across the Bank.
- Providing independent second line oversight and challenge of the Bank's financial and prudential risk profile.
- Ensuring prudential risk management remains aligned to regulatory expectations, industry best practice and the Bank's strategic objectives.
- Leading second line review, challenge and oversight of the ICAAP process.
- Providing independent assessment of capital adequacy, capital planning and capital stress testing activities.
- Ensuring material prudential risks are appropriately considered within capital assessments and stress testing exercises.
- Leading oversight of liquidity risk management and the ILAAP framework.
- Reviewing and challenging liquidity risk methodologies, stress assumptions and contingency liquidity and funding arrangements.
- Assessing the adequacy of liquidity resources relative to business strategy and risk appetite.
- Providing oversight of treasury activities from a prudential risk perspective.
- Owning the second line oversight of Recovery Planning, Resolution and Solvent Exit activities.
- Independently challenging recovery options, recovery indicators, stress scenarios and governance arrangements.
- Ensuring recovery, resolution and solvent exit planning remains consistent with PRA expectations and emerging regulatory requirements
- Ensuring severe but plausible scenarios appropriately test the Bank's financial resilience.
- Assessing the impact of emerging risks, macroeconomic developments and strategic change on capital and liquidity positions.
- Serving as the principal Prudential Risk representative at relevant governance forums including Board Risk Committee, Executive Risk Committee, ALCO, Relevant Incident Management meetings, Recovery Planning Committees and Prudential Working Groups
- Developing high-quality prudential risk reports for Committee audiences.
- Supporting regulatory reviews, information requests, thematic reviews and supervisory engagement with the PRA and FCA.
Our ideal candidate for the Head of Prudential Risk opportunity:
- Has extensive Prudential Risk, Treasury Risk or Capital Management experience within a UK Bank or other regulated Financial Services business.
- Has significant experience of ICAAP, ILAAP, Recovery and Resolution Planning, Capital Planning, Liquidity Risk Management, Stress Testing, Prudential Regulatory Reporting
- Possesses expert-level knowledge of PRA prudential standards and supervisory expectations.
- Has experience of presenting to ALCO, Executive Committees and Board Risk Committees.
- Has a track record of providing effective second line challenge and oversight.
- Has proven leadership and people management experience.
- Demonstrates strong stakeholder management and influencing capability.
- Has experience of supporting PRA supervisory interactions.
- Possesses strong knowledge of Basel/SDDT prudential principles and UK implementation, and of regulatory reporting frameworks including COREP/FINREP and liquidity reporting.
- Holds a Risk, Treasury or finance professional qualification
