Kind Consultancy is working with a specialist mortgage lender which is currently seeking an Underwriting Team Manager to join them in a full-time, permanent role based in their Milton Keynes offices, with a hybrid work model, paying up to £55,000 dependent on experience.

The Underwriting Team Manager will lead, manage and develop the mortgage processing teams to deliver an excellent customer journey, with key responsibilities including:

  • Conducting 1-2-1’s, goal setting and performance management of direct reports
  • Managing work allocation and monitoring productivity of the team.
  • Acting as a senior underwriter, approving Buy to Let and Residential loans within mandate and carrying out 2nd case reviews on loans underwritten by the team.
  • Working with the compliance team to monitor and develop oversight controls
  • Responding to post-offer queries from the outsourcing servicing partner.
  • Supporting the development, analysis and monitoring of MI reports.
  • Delivering an excellent, compliant service with prompt and accurate decisioning at each stage of the process

Our ideal candidate for the Underwriting Team Manager opportunity:

  • Has strong experience in Mortgage Underwriting, ideally across Buy-to-Let and Residential.
  • Has previous team leadership or management experience.
  • Demonstrates a deep understanding of lending strategy, credit risk policies, and underwriting processes.
  • Displays excellent stakeholder communication and decision-making skills.
  • Has a proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
