Becoming Kind: What’s working at Kind Consultancy like?

It’s very important to us here at Kind to be not just great at what we do but to also be a great place to work. We’ve asked one of the newest members of the Kind Consultancy to blog about their experience of joining us:

“Earlier this year I completed my Business Management degree at Cardiff University – and leapt almost immediately into my position at Kind Consultancy. I chose to become part of the Kind team because they offered a welcoming and prosperous environment, and I knew it was the place for me right from the first interview. Kind provided extensive training and support as well as ensuring there was time for team building activities, it’s the exact opposite of the cold, harsh corporate recruitment offices I’d been warned about.  The whole team made me feel welcome from our first meeting and they asked me to join their dragon boat team for a charity event before I’d even officially started – to top a great day off we ended up winning the event.

The job itself is fast- paced which I thrive on, and knowing I can turn to any of the consultants for support means that even when I face an unexpected or complex problem, I’m surrounded by people who know exactly how to help. Adapting to work has been a lot smoother than I expected and this job has brought my confidence on in leaps and bounds. New tasks are always broken down into manageable stages so I can master each part before moving onto the next, and would later be able to combine my learning when it comes time to manage the entire process myself. Also, meeting and talking to a variety of people on a daily basis and sharing the knowledge of the Kind team has meant I now feel confident in holding conversations with professionals across the Recruitment, Banking and Financial Services spaces.
Predominately we focus on the financial sector which I’ve always had an interest in. We are required to have a broad range of knowledge when speaking with candidates and clients, and this has encouraged me to develop a good understanding of how companies are structured and the importance each role has to the wider organisation. I largely focus on Governance, Risk and Compliance and Cyber Security. Both areas are absolutely crucial to a successful modern business, especially within the Finance and Banking sectors. I appreciated that I was given real responsibilities from day one, being taken to networking events and enabling me to learn about the industry first hand. To aid my learning further, the different roles were broken down into sections so I could focus my learning on individual areas to prevent confusion and develop a clear understanding of often very complicated technical roles.

Coming to the end of my first quarter with Kind, I can confidently say I have been supported through every step and I’m looking forward to the future here and I’m eager to develop my knowledge and skill set as I progress towards becoming a fully fledged 360 consultant.”
