Kind Consultancy is working with a specialist mortgage lender, which is currently seeking a Mortgage Underwriter to join them in a permanent, full-time role paying circa £37,000, based in their Kent offices with a hybrid work model (1 day per week from home).

The role centres on underwriting Mortgage Applications accurately and to a high quality, with key responsibilities including:

  • Underwriting Mortgage Applications to high standards, ensuring that the Lending Criteria is adhered to.
  • Interpreting CAIS/Credit data for all individual/company Applications.
  • Assessing Portfolio Landlords in accordance with current regulations and guidelines.
  • Effectively, and proactively, managing your pipeline.
  • Providing training, knowledge and assistance to colleagues when required.
  • Taking ownership of complex cases and queries.
  • Planning and prioritising allocated workloads against agreed service standards.
  • Assessing Applications within a prescribed Mandate level and presenting Applications to higher Mandate holders/Credit Committee when applicable.
  • Liaising with various internal departments to ensure the efficient progression of Applications.
  • Ensuring timely, accurate and appropriate responses to enquiries or correspondence from internal or external sources.

  • Fully understands the Mortgage process and has a strong knowledge of the Mortgage market.

Asset Finance Underwriter

Kind Consultancy is working with an established specialist Asset Finance lender which is currently seeking an Asset Finance Underwriter to join them in a permanent, full-time position paying up to £60,000 with a hybrid work model requiring 2 days per week in-office in the Lancashire area.

Reporting to the Head of Credit for Asset Finance, the Asset Finance Underwriter will focus on drafting and presenting structured credit proposals, with key responsibilities including:

  • Performing credit reviews and researching industry and customer-related information for all new proposals and reviews of existing customers, as well as proactively monitoring industry and sector trends for early warning signals.
  • Achieving a timely turnaround of credit proposals and reviews, in accordance with pre-agreed SLAs.
  • Liaising with fellow Senior Underwriters and colleagues from the Credit & Risk department, as well as the Sales and Operations teams in relation to credit proposals; satisfaction of conditions precedent prior to referring for payout; and assisting in ongoing monitoring of clients’ financial performance to ensure compliance with covenants in place.
  • Building and developing relationships with existing and potential Introducers, Suppliers and Valuers in order to maximise future opportunities for the Business.
  • Assisting in the production of underwriting management reports, including client exposures, asset concentration; and other ad hoc reports as required.

Kind Consultancy is working with a growing Financial Services firm which is currently seeking an Underwriter to join them in a full-time, permanent role in their Hertfordshire office focussing on Buy-to-Let Mortgages.

The Buy-to-Let Underwriter will take ownership of allocated buy-to-let mortgage cases from inception through to completion with key responsibilities including:

  • Entering and updating borrower data on a lending platform.
  • Ensuring all aspects of the loans are recorded accurately on Fusion and meet underwriting guidelines.
  • Carrying out an assessment of the mortgage application to ensure all aspects of our underwriting criteria are met.
  • Providing concise and accurate updates to brokers.
  • Proactively chasing brokers for outstanding requirements.

Senior Underwriter – 12 Month FTC

Kind Consultancy is working with a successful and respected Retail Financial Services business which is currently growing its Underwriting team. As part of this expansion, they are seeking a Senior Underwriter to join their East Midlands offices in a 12-month Fixed Term Contract paying up to £45,000, with the possibility of remote or hybrid work models.

As a Senior Underwriter your role will be to ensure the business’s underwriting standards and practices are upheld within the Lending Team, ensuring the 6 Pillars approach is embedded consistently in addition to the Responsible Lending Policy. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting in the training of Lending Support Officers on the Underwriting T&C Framework.
  • Dealing with enquiries on all aspects of mortgage applications from customer and intermediaries.
  • Monitoring suitability of applications and compliance with current Lending Policy.
  • Conducting Affordability Assessments to ensure they comply with current Lending Policy or make any recommendations outside of this.
  • Approving of advances up to level of mandate.
  • Preparing applications outside mandate for higher mandated approval, including MIG referrals and Authorisation numbers.
  • Identifying opportunities to make the mortgage process more efficient without compromising standards

For the Fixed Term Contract Senior Underwriter opportunity, we’re looking for candidates who:

  • Hold a full CeMAP Qualification
  • Have substantial Underwriting experience
  • Are confident in manually underwriting deals
  • Have previously held a mandate of at least £500,000
  • Have excellent attention to detail, strong communication skills and the ability to solve problems quickly.
  • Are highly organised with strong prioritisation skills
  • Have good IT skills including a basic understanding of the MS Office package, especially MS Outlook & Excel.
  • Hold at least five GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade C or above, including Maths and English.
  • Are willing to undergo a credit reference search and DBS check
